superb level of competence. he will definitely be my gastroenterologist from now on. it's noteworthy that the team surrounding him (at 'endoscopy center of santa monica') during my procedure (endoscopy + colonoscopy), together with dr. katkov, gave me (hands-down) the most: caring, positive, painless, not needlessly long, and complication-free medical procedure i have ever experienced in my entire life of 74 years. BEST of the BEST!

Do not trust this Dr or the Staff at Santa Monica GI. 1919 Santa Monica Blvd Suite 200 , SANTA MONICA, CA. I was referred to Dr Katkov by Dr. Krems for a routine preventative procedure, however the staff,or the Dr , decided that this was a diagnostic procedure(I have no symptoms or reason to think I would develop any) so that they could charge more(and only partially covered by insurance)I contacted my insurance and they agreed that this is a preventative procedure (covered 100%) and that I should be wary of an office that is intent on billing me otherwise. The Dr never responded one way or the other, so I just assume he doesn’t care If He sees me or not.

Dr Katkov is really great takes the time to fully explain everything in a easy to understand manner would highly recommend him ..

His, staff, administration and his managment on the day of my procedure of nursing and team exemplified his team work. I completely agree with the person who said find another doctor. This may have been the worst experience I’ve ever had with a medical professional in my life. I went to him complaining of severe abdominal pain and explain my family history of IBS and Crohn’s disease and my symptoms. He ordered a colonoscopy. He did not take the time to speak with me before or after the procedure. He kept me waiting and the nurse told me sorry he got too busy you can go home now after the procedure. He failed to return my calls and when he did he told me that they found nothing wrong during the exam which was different than what I had ever heard before from my other GI Doctor who unfortunately retired. Since the exam I’ve received no less than five different bills relating to anesthesia, preparatory nurses, the exam itself, the lab work afterwards, and for the facility itself. I have excellent PPO insurance and yet have still paid over $2000 for a colonoscopy which had absolutely zero results and the doctor did not care one iota about helping me or my condition . He is strictly there to order exams and make money without regard to the results of the exams or helping any of his patients. Stay far away and find yourself another doctor. I have had the pleasure of being a patient of Dr. William Katkov for the past five years. He is outstanding in his field and has an extremely pleasant bedside manner. I am even looking forward to my next visit to his facility this December.

I believe I am in the majority when I state that I hate colonoscopies...at least the prep for them, but Dr. Katkov makes the rest of it easy and painless. He and his staff treat you with respect and dignity. They understand that while it is routine to them, it is not routine for you. My husband and I both go to Dr. Katkov and we recommend him.
