Install & setup

01How do I install Gutlog?+
Search "Gutlog" on the App Store (iOS 16.4 or later). The app is free to download; Plus is an in-app subscription. There's no separate macOS or iPad build — the iPhone app runs on iPad via scaling.
02Do I need to create an account?+
No. The app opens straight into a local log. Everything stays on your device unless you turn on iCloud sync, which uses your existing Apple ID (we never see it).
03Which iOS versions are supported?+
iOS 16.4 and up. watchOS 10+ for the watch app. We try to support the last two major iOS releases.

Your first log

◦ 6 articles · updated Mar 2026
01What do I log on day one?+
Just a Bristol number and whether you ate breakfast. Seriously. The app gets useful after 14 days of casual logging — not because of what you enter today, but because of the pattern across two weeks.
02I missed three days — do I start over?+
No. Gutlog treats gaps as data, not failure. Just pick up on the next day you remember; the insights engine handles missing rows gracefully.

Apple Watch & complication

01How do I add the complication?+
Long-press your watch face → Edit → Complications, then pick Gutlog. We support Corner, Circular, and Rectangular slots on most modern watch faces. The complication shows today's logged Bristol number, or a subtle dot if you haven't logged yet.
02Can I log from the watch without my phone?+
Yes — the watch app stores the log locally and syncs when your phone is reachable. Works offline in airplane mode too.

Export, backup, delete

◦ 5 articles · updated Apr 2026
01How do I export my data?+
Settings → Data → Export as JSON. The file follows our published schema (on GitHub) so you can read it with any tool that parses JSON. You can also email the file directly from the share sheet.
02How do I delete every log?+
Settings → Data → Delete All Logs, then confirm twice. This is permanent — there is no "undo" because there is no server-side copy to restore.

Subscription, refunds, family

◦ 6 articles · updated Apr 2026
01How do I cancel?+
iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Gutlog → Cancel. We don't process subscriptions ourselves, so we can't cancel on your behalf — but you keep all your logged data regardless.
02Can I get a refund?+
Yes, within 30 days of your initial Plus purchase. Email refunds@mygutlog.com with your Apple receipt number and we'll issue it through App Store Connect within a business day.

For clinicians

01How does my patient send me a report?+
Plus users can generate a PDF summary (4–12 weeks of logs, anonymized except for a name field they fill in) from Settings → Reports. They can email it directly from the share sheet. No patient portal, no login required on your end.
02Bulk licensing for a GI practice?+
We offer a volume-discounted Plus subscription for GI clinics. Email clinic@mygutlog.com with practice name and seat count; we can usually turn a quote around in 2 days.
