1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading and using GutLog ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
GutLog is a local-first gut health journal for iOS and watchOS. It lets you log bowel movements, track digestive symptoms and habits, review rule-based trends calculated on your device, and optionally request an AI-assisted summary of minimized aggregate statistics.
3. No Account Required
GutLog does not require an account. Your journal is stored locally on your device, so you are responsible for maintaining access to that device and any local copy you choose to export.
4. Subscription Services
GutLog offers a premium subscription ("GutLog Plus") that provides meal and fiber tracking, mood and symptom recording, encrypted photos, expanded history, deeper rule-based insights, and an optional off-device AI summary that is disabled until you consent.
- Free Trial: A 7-day free trial may be offered to new subscribers. You will be charged at the end of the trial period unless you cancel.
- Billing: Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID account via the App Store. Payment is charged at confirmation of purchase.
- Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Cancellation: You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings.
5. User Content
You retain ownership of all health data, photos, notes, and other content you enter into the App. You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of your content.
6. Health Disclaimer
IMPORTANT: GutLog is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Journal summaries, correlations, rule-based insights, and optional AI-assisted summaries describe the information you logged and are for informational purposes only. Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Attempt to interfere with App Store subscription processing
- Use the App to harm yourself or others
8. Data & Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.
9. Removing the App and Your Data
You may stop using GutLog at any time. Settings > Reset All Data removes the journal, encrypted photos, settings, reminders, and derived insights stored by GutLog on that device. Deleting the app also removes its local data, subject to Apple's device and backup behavior. Removing local data or the app does not cancel an App Store subscription.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, GutLog shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or meet your specific requirements.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws.
