I asked for help with weight loss and keeping my cholesterol and sugar down. Four weeks in and I had gotten some general advice for overall healthy eating but didn’t feel like we had a plan to work toward weight loss. I finally asked about it and the dietician literally said she doesn’t have any experience with weight loss as a dietician. She talked about not being into diet culture, etc., and that’s fine, I’m not looking to be on a perpetual diet and starve myself or try to look like a model, but I am obese with lots of stomach fat that is causing me discomfort and impacting several areas of my life. I trusted that the practice manager would put me with someone who could help me as I said things like this in the paperwork but I got someone who doesn’t seem to understand that it’s okay for someone to have a weigh loss goal. She also hesitated to say the word exercise when we were talking about lifestyle changes. Diet and exercise are not bad words when the person you’re trying to help wants to lose weight. Not everyone is healthy at any size, especially when they tell you they don’t feel good with the extra weight. My weight is making my bad knee worse and keeping me feeling fatigued, out of breath, and not being able to do things I want to do. That’s what I wanted help with and it’s a little mind blowing that a dietician would not have experience with weight loss. Anyway, I was highly disappointed and all I can say is I’m glad I met my OOP maximum and didn’t pay anything for the sessions.

There are so many amazing resources with Nourishment Works, including within the community, their website, and the clinicians! I have so much gratitude for all that they have provided me and those I have worked with during my time with them!

I can’t say enough good things about this practice. Nourishment Works has been a game-changer for me. I’ve attended groups and individual counseling and their guidance has helped me heal many relationships in my life including my relationship with myself, food, and my body. I highly recommend them for anyone looking to do deeper personal work. They have a beautiful and welcoming space too.
