WakeMed Gastroenterology

DO NOT GO HERE! They do not bill it as a "specialty provider" but as a hospital! I was referred by my primary (WakeMed primary) to see a GI specialist. While the staff and doctor were fine- I was at the appointment for maybe six minutes, and they told me I needed an endoscopy. A week before the procedure, I got a call that I would owe $3,200 the day of! Having already had an endoscopy years back and only paying a copay, I thought that was odd. After viewing the billing, they charge it as a hospital visit. $12,000 total, $11,000 were hospital fees. So, of course, I canceled, since if I go to another GI to have this performed, it will not be billed as a "hospital" visit. Then I got a bill for my original appointment (which should have only been the copay) for an additional $192. When I talked to Blue Cross Blue Shield, they confirmed my suspicions that indeed WakeMed billed my visit as an outpatient, aka a hospital visit. I wish I had known all this; I waited almost a month for the initial appointment, then about a month for the procedure, all to be left with NOTHING! Do not waste your time (and money). **update- I went to another gi doctor in the Raleigh area, under the same insurance, had the procedure done and paid $50, which is my copay!!!

Juan Herrera, does not care about the patient. Did not take the time to listen or read my history. Waited three months for this appt. Just made assumptions I walked out! Will not return to this facility.

Everyone was perfectly trained. Thorough, and efficient, thorough-out entire procedure. Thoroughly explained each step from beginning, all the way down to release directions.

Canceled my procedure abou lt 17 hours prior.( when i was already 16 hours into my clear liquid diet) Told my insurance was still pending the claim. Insursnce says they approved it. Called today to reschedule, sat on hold for over 45 minutes before i was disconnected. Called back and used the option to leave a voicemail. Still waiting on them to call me back. Terrible

The most excellent care Ifor my husband for over two years . May God continue to bless and keep them safe for all! Dr. Patrick Georgoff and his staff truly care about their patients and treat everyone like you are family! Dr. Georgoff even directed me to Dr. Mike Wiliford who took care of the surgery for my hialatial hernia. Both of these doctors are simply the best.

I was seen in a timley manner they got me back And was able to help me with my problem And got me out withen 4hrs wich is great for ER visit

I don’t think this is a real practice. They keep saying they’re not scheduling patients. I will be reporting this practice to Medicare and my own private insurance company as patients should not be referred here. I do not know if it is a scam

It is with deepest gratitude to be a patient at this practice. I have great confidence and have always received exemplary care. I have always been treated with respect and compassion. Dr Chowdhury had followed and provided continued support throughout the years. I cannot recommend him more highly. Having been a medical professional for 45 years, I have encountered countless providers, Dr Chowdhury is exceptional. Office staff are always respectful and thorough. It’s a gift to be a patient here.
