Vanguard Gastroenterology LLP (Midtown)

I had a very disappointing experience with Abby at Vanguard Gastro. I called as a former patient to ask a simple question about insurance coverage, and instead of receiving helpful customer service, I felt like I was being talked down to. She repeatedly emphasized that the office does not accept Fidelis Care in a tone that came across as dismissive and condescending, rather than trying to assist or answer my questions respectfully. I understand that insurance policies are not the staff’s fault, but the way patients are spoken to absolutely matters. A little patience and kindness can make a stressful situation much easier. Unfortunately, I left the call feeling embarrassed and unwelcome. I hope the office places more emphasis on professionalism and respectful communication with patients.

Doctors are great but the assistants (Marina in particular) for Dr Sherman is an absolute mess. She screwed up my appointment time, sent me the wrong instructions for my test and took zero accountability. And then when I called for results no one called me back. The worst back office ever.

Want to say dr cohen is amazing but the other staff there are totally clueless. The woman who took my blood left me with severe bruising (too disturbing to add a pic…) across my entire arm - my whole arm from wrist to shoulder was purple. She yanked the blood needle out and I screamed and she rubbed it and told me it was nothing. She was very aggressive, quick and not patient at all.

Terrible experience with the billing department at the doctors office. Sending over unexpected bills.

I had a terrible experience at this clinic. The staff was extremely unprofessional and showed no concern for my well-being. Despite numerous attempts to resolve the issue, I never received my medication. The treatment I received was careless and dismissive, leaving me frustrated and deeply disappointed. It was clear that patient care was not their priority. I strongly advise others to avoid this clinic if they are looking for reliable and compassionate medical care.

The doctors have been fine although my gastroenterologist left the Vanguard group for another group. Very common. When I called ahead to get my medical records of 3 years, I did not receive a return call. I decided to go to the office on a freezing cold day (20 degrees-brrr) to get my records for my visit with the new doctor in a couple days. Angela, the practice manager refused to give me my records. I was appalled. She said they wouldn’t do that and that the law says they only have to give me my records in 5-7 business days. Unbelievable! Finally after much urging, Angela left as if it was a done deal and I would not be getting my records. Surprise, surprise. Then the records person came out with all my records. It only took 5 minutes. Why did she have to cause such a difficult conversation when it took such a short time to copy the records? Not very good customer service for their patients who have a right to obtain their records. Angela needs to learn more flexibility and kindness in helping the patients whom they serve. The staff are the front face of the doctors’ practice. The receptionists are all kind and accommodating. Angela needs a review of her customer service skills.

Can't say enough good things about Dr. Weber and Vanguard Gastro. He's been there for me every step of the way over the last 9+ years with my UC. Best GI doctor I've ever had; I wish every doctor was more like him. Caring, compassionate, active listener, and dedicated to finding the right treatment plan for every single patient.

Starting from the front desk all the staff were professional and friendly. I was seen within five minutes of arriving. Doctor Salik was very attentive and explained everything thoroughly. I have no complaints. I wish all my appointments would go this smooth.

Solid experience. I appreciated the reception staff, and my time with Dr. Perelman did involve room for question-and-answer and more holistic discussion.
