UW Medicine Gastroenterology Clinic at Harborview

This clinic has some kind persons when you get to talk with them. But there is miscommunication and they won't tell you how long you will wait for an appointment. They say they will call back and do not. Something is very mixed up here and they are unable to provide timely and appropriate care. I called another provider and got an appointment in two days. If UW can not meet the need of its patiens, it should not tell them they will be served. This kind of treatment causes people to distrust medical care and feel that they are not cared about or for.

I received a referral from my primary doctor and was mailed a letter instructing me to call a number for this clinic. I called the number on a Monday at 1:12 PM and stayed on the line, trying repeatedly, until 3:44 PM. I called again on Tuesday and spent another hour on hold. I managed to speak with a representative twice, but both times the call dropped as soon as she tried to transfer me, forcing me to start over on hold in the "line". The second time, I spoke with Justine and asked her to take my number in case we got disconnected. Unfortunately, the call dropped again at the exact same point, and I never received a call back. I get it's not her fault but it's just so frustrating. In total, I’ve spent over three and a half hours across two days trying to schedule this appointment, and I still haven’t been able to get through.

Im been helping my friend to make his appointment, but they never call back unless is for billing information that's when they are on top. Ask your primary doctor to send you anywhere but here.

We should all sue

The providers are great if you manage to get an appointment with them, but the scheduling folks and their communication are an absolute nightmare. Even if you are an established patient, and have an urgent need to be seen, be prepared to wait for 4+ months for the next follow up appointment (yes even if it’s time sensitive). They will not let you change providers to be seen sooner.

The ladies in front are sweet as pie. Christina, Justin from the Gastro team who handle MyChart and sometimes walk in concerns are wonderful. Aside from that, waiting over half hour to speak to a care team member (vs sending a MyChart message (which is its own nightmare and I was chastised for) without given a time frame of when you can talk with anyone is truly unacceptable, esp symptomatic. The care hasn’t been stellar in this dept. despite th good things I heard.

I've had nothing but scheduling issues. And it's completely on them. Even though my doctor and the doctors their thought it imperative to be seen asap. And yet its been 5 months of this or that. Including we don't know what happened to your appointment. I'm really concerned about their abilities if they're incapable of even scheduling and keeping appointments.

Do not seek help here if you want to be seen before the turn of the century. I scheduled an appointment in August for February 26th and it was canceled and they tried to reschedule it for the end of May. Complete and total lack of empathy here, avoid it.

This is for UW Medicine Gastroenterology in general and it has been a complete runaround, miscommunication problems from the get-go. I'm concerned this isn't high quality care that patients need to expect from high priced procedures that need to be done asap and multiple people, including myself, cannot get. It could possibly be that the good doctors just are not around anymore and don't need the hassles of difficult cases. Also, I notice it's more a problem that women do expect better. The plan with DOGE is to kill older people off and this may also be baked into previous Medicare guidelines so they save money. It's a little bit sad when you have stress issues that cause the gastro system to malfunction and the care is poor.
