In January 2024, I was reading the reviews for NCWW and thought, “This seems too good to be true.” But I took a leap of faith and signed up for their free orientation session—and I’m so grateful I did. The entire team at NCWW is genuinely dedicated to their patients' well-being, and it’s clear they bring both expertise and a deep passion for what they do. From my very first appointment, I felt heard and respected, and working with Dr. Kahan has helped me let go of a lot of the distrust and fear I’d previously associated with healthcare providers. The initial assessment and bloodwork were thorough, and although they came with an unexpected and unfortunate diagnosis, I’ve felt fully supported in every step of my journey toward better health. NCWW’s approach is holistic and grounded in both medical knowledge and deeply compassionate care. They’ve empowered me to take control of my health in a way that is sustainable and meaningful, helping me lose not only physical weight but also the emotional weight that has accompanied living in a larger body my whole life. If you’re feeling defeated by your weight, I highly recommend reaching out to NCWW. Everyone I've worked with is extremely kind and has treated me with such compassion and respect. I feel like I have long-term partners in health and wellness.

I have been a patient with Dr. Kahan since late 2019 and I believe I will be a patient until the day he retires! I have spent so many years of my life on a rollercoaster of nutritionists, dieticians, Drs, and therapists related to my weight related issues. Before Dr. Kahan, I never once felt that my frustrations or struggles were really heard. I felt that I was given a "plan" based on my BMI and height and weight but it never was unique to me and my complex issues. That all changed with Dr. Kahan. He sat and listened to every word I shared. He listened to my rollercoaster of emotions surrounding food, exercise and family history. He empathized with my journey and found a plan that worked for me and was just for ME. I have never met a Dr. that relates so comfortably with his patients, meeting them where they are and asking questions as opposed to Dr.s who know it all and just tell you what to do based on the medical books. I can't recommend Dr. Kahan or his practice enough! It has changed my life.

I have been a patient of Dr. Kahan for almost 2 years now. I was referred to him by an endocrinologist whom couldn't find anything wrong with me! Yet my weight was on a rise and I had gained almost 40 pounds in about 7 years especially post menopause. No one could understand and help me. Dr. Kahan took a different approach and involved his team including, Kathy a wonderful nutritionist and Brian an amazing personal trainer to help me. He did not give up on me,actively listened and changed my medication several times to get to the one that would be effective with the least side effects. I lost all my excess weight and have been feeling healthier and happier. I am very grateful to Dr. Kahan and his team for their knowledge of the metabolic disorder field, patience, honesty, empathy and their ability to customize my treatment for me.

NCWW tailored support to my needs and this is the first program I've ever done that worked. Improvement required time and repetition, and the personal attention of highly competent and supportive staff was just what I needed. They taught me patience and improved my ability to regulate my own habits and feel better about myself.

I have been a patient of Dr. Kahan and the NCWW since it opened and have recommended the practice to friends. Dr. Kahan and his staff are caring, upbeat professionals who understand the challenges of weight loss, especially as we age, and believe in a customized approach rather than a "one size fits all" approach. I cannot imagine a more caring physician and staff who always seem to be there for me even though it is a very busy practice.

I was referred to Dr. Kahan by my primary care physician after trying Weight Watchers and behavior modification therapy without success. I've always had to watch my weight, but two pregnancies and a very stressful desk job contributed to a gain of about 40 lbs, leaving the category of obese back to normal BMI for my height. Dr. Kahan is both very caring and extremely knowledgeable. As a scientist, I asked a lot of questions. Dr. Kahan patiently and completely answered them. We worked together to try a number of strategies that reflected the state of the art in medicine as well as my personal preferences. I have successfully lost the weight and importantly, maintained the weight loss. Dr. Kahan's practice offers support from a variety of perspectives. I benefited from seeing him as well as his associates, including a therapist and a nutritionist who helped me strategize. Dr. Kahan is always available when something comes up. He gives the time needed to fully understand your unique situation and provide thoughtful advice and tailor medication options, if that is something that is appropriate.

I have been a patient for the past few years of the NCWW. Led by Dr. Scott Kahan, he and his team have offered valuable advice and encouragement that have led to my considerable weight loss--including maintenance. In my experience, their patient-centered services are unique. I highly recommend them. My only regret is that I didn't find them earlier.

I’ve struggled most of my life with being overweight and I had lost significant amounts of weight and regained it several times. I had worked with another weight center, primary care physicians and nutritionists, all with mixed success. Over the last 4 years, I have had the pleasure of working with Dr. Kahan at the National Center for Weight and Wellness to lose over 160 lbs, but more importantly maintain this weight loss for the last 2 years. This is a feat that I have never been able to achieve before. While changes in diet and exercise were instrumental, the use of approved weight loss medication and the support of Dr. Kahan through regular telemedicine appointments were convenient and effective. His approach was tailored to my situation and have adapted as my needs have changed. I would highly recommend Dr. Kahan and his team at NCWW. Additionally, I was only in the Washington, D.C. region for part of this time and then moved away, but through the use of video-based telemedicine, I was able to continue appointments through the pandemic and my relocation, making it extremely convenient to maintain regular meetings.

Weight management has been a challenge for me all my life. I was an NCWW patient at the very beginning, when I worked down the street from their office. Now, more than a decade later, I'm thousands of miles away. Although I'm averse to telemedicine, I'm still a patient here because their advice and support continue to be crucial to my success in this constant battle. I'm 110 pounds below my highest weight and motivated to keep going. I've learned from experience I can't expect to do it alone.

Dr. Kahan and the NCWW provided the right combination of structure and accountability with kindness and support. Based on a solid medical foundation, NCWW worked with me to build a healthy lifestyle that prompted me to lose 100 lbs over a two year period. And then NCWW helped me construct a lifestyle that has kept the weight off for over 3 years. NCWW and Dr. Kahan helped with food choices education, therapy, physical exercise, and generally trying new things. The goal was never to fit into their box, but to help me build my own program that would work for me and that I could maintain long term. To that end, Dr. Kahan and NCWW have been very successful for me.
