I had my 2nd Endoscopy with Dr. Olyaee today. Everyone from all the nurses, including his personal nurse, Taylor prior to the Endoscopy & Dr. Oyaee were so helpful. I have a few healthy issue momentarily & they made sure I was comfortable & all went well. I talked to Dr. Olyaee in the surgery room My diagnosis was discussed right afterwards & my results were posted in the portal. I am so grateful to have such a fabulous Dr. & team at KU.

Very poor experience(s) with Dr Olyaee and the KU GI department. For years I had severe chest pains in which the heart was ruled out as cause based on tests. I communicated that it felt it was a damaged nerve which he quickly disregarded. After multiple tests in which no specific cause was identified, he treated me for acid reflux although no tests confirmed acid reflux. When acid reflux treatment did not work, he treated me for stress when I had no history or signs of stress. After years with nothing getting better and using very harsh drugs with horrible side effects, I went to Mayo which quickly confirmed I had esophageal spasms and costochondritis. Mayo said this was an easy diagnosis that would have been tested with my initial visit at KU GI. Also, Mayo said stress or acid reflux has nothing to do with my condition. Thus, I wasted years taking unnecessary drugs and a dr who refused to listen or perform basic GI testing. When discussing ongoing treatment based on the Mayo diagnosis, Dr Olyaee just showed no interest about me, past care or and ongoing future care plan. Thus, I have found a new GI doctor outside of KU. Working with KU GI and Dr Olyaee was a horrible experience who just did not care about the patient or patient concerns. I did have a very good experience with KU cardio and KU pain management. Don’t waste your time with KU GI.

First thing you need to know is I am an employee in the same health system as this doctor and how he treated me as such is reprehensible, much less how he treats regular patients. There is a huge language barrier and if you ask him to repeat himself because you can’t understand him he takes offense and blows you off, literally will wave his hand in front of you as if brushing you away. I definitely would not recommend telehealth with this doctor if you have to ask a lot of questions, especially because he picks and chooses which to answer and when HE is done, not you as the patient, you are simply dismissed or your telehealth ended despite you still having questions. I had a procedure at the beginning of the year and then repeated a month later, of this year. The one prior showed nothing according to him, a month later I am hospitalized having the same procedure only this time I am diagnosed and told that in their medical opinion (the surgeon, who works in the same hospital system) the prior doctor did me great harm by not fully exploring during my procedure and that had he done so the issue would have been caught in then because there was clear evidence in the surgeons opinion of my issue building over months to years. All I can say is this man should never be a practicing doctor. From the rude, distressing, anxiety inducing way he treats patients to his medical practices. Patients should be treated with respect because mental health affects the physical as much as anything.

Very disappointed with Dr. Olyaee’s unprofessionalism during my last procedure with him. He diagnosed me with a lifelong intestinal disease, with a very high rate of developing cancer, 14 years ago. When I saw him this last week he treated me like he had never seen me before and diagnosed me with something else, much more minor (without yet getting the biopsy results.) Needless to say, I will be getting a 2nd opinion. I’ve never had issues with him in the past, but this time they rescheduled my procedure 3 times, all the way around, a bad experience.

Very good at what he does. May not be the most sociable person but he is a great doctor. His nurse Melissa is quite amazing as well and truly cares for what their patients needs are. Doesn't sugar coat the results and are honest, which is needed. I highly recommend Dr. Olyaee and his staff.
