If you are looking for a GI doc look no further. Dr. Gubbin is attentive and very detailed. This is not a drive by practice, you will be attended with respect. Highly recommend.

I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Gubbins and his office. First, I scheduled an appointment because my regular gastroenterologist was unavailable and I was dealing with an urgent issue. After booking, the office called to tell me that because I had previously seen another gastroenterologist, they needed to check whether Dr. Gubbins would even agree to see me. As a patient seeking care, this was frustrating and made me feel like my medical concerns were not being taken seriously. During the appointment, I felt that Dr. Gubbins was dismissive and condescending. He seemed to jump to conclusions about my condition, repeatedly suggesting that I most likely had a bacterial infection despite my explaining my history of IBS and ongoing symptoms. He ordered a GI pathogen test based on that assumption, but when I asked whether an H. pylori test could also be performed to rule out another possible cause, his response was, "Why do you want that?" Rather than discussing the reasoning behind the test or addressing my concerns, I felt that my questions were brushed aside. Most concerning was the lack of support after the appointment. I have been dealing with chronic diarrhea, and when I called the office seeking guidance and a follow-up appointment, I was essentially told, "Uh, I don't know." For a patient struggling with ongoing gastrointestinal symptoms, that response was both unhelpful and disappointing. In addition, I found myself having to constantly follow up with the office regarding next steps. Whether it was scheduling follow-up appointments, checking on lab orders, or obtaining updates, I repeatedly had to reach out myself to make sure things were being handled. I understand that not every diagnosis is straightforward, but patients deserve to be heard, treated with respect, and provided with appropriate follow-up care. Unfortunately, that was not my experience, and I would not recommend this practice based on the lack of communication, dismissive attitude, and poor continuity of care.
