I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. D. Patel and the staff at GI Care for Kids. We first met Dr. D. Patel during my child's hospital stay and he was not only a huge comfort to our family, but he actually listened to all of our concerns and worked WITH us on a treatment plan that made sense. We then followed up with him after she was discharged from the hospital and he continues to be an absolute pleasure to see at each visit. It is very obvious that he truly cares about his patients and their family. The nurses at GI Care for Kids have also been wonderful. I have used the after-hours nurse line several times and each time the nurses have been very helpful and kind. They do not rush through the phone call but take their time to address concerns and point you in the right direction. Even the front office staff are very kind and have had a friendly demeanor at each visit. If your little one has GI troubles, this is where you want to be.

I will not be coming back here. I brought my child thinking it would be a great place for him to follow up. His pediatrician let me choose but I will be finding else where. The first visit was fine simply because I was given instructions on what to do to help my child. I did what was told. Did a follow up today because I was told to bring him back in a month (Dr. Patel’s words). I did that today. I kept track of everything but as I started to explain how my kid started to go without the help of miralax or how I didn’t want to give him miralax on days before he had to go to school just so he wouldn’t have accidents at school, because miralax does make you go to the rest room. Thought that would have been common sense? And that my child cannot feel when he has to go so id rather be at home with him so I can get him to use the rest room. Dr. Patel proceeded to try and get an attitude about this and asks me “what did you come here for today? A follow up or what”.. BECAUSE YOU TOLD ME TO BRING HIM BACK IN A MONTH! You’re a supposed to be a doctor and listen to everything, not try to catch an attitude. But after today, my child and I will not be back. I will find else where. But the nurses & MAs are very sweet if I should add.

I called after my child received a referral from her pediatrician for food getting stuck in the throat, and a constant red throat. I also followed up with her allergist who was concerned about EOE. I tried calling the facility, and got the front office staff. They said I had called too early, and the office would be in contact in 2-3 days. I was frustrated at the time, but understood New Year’s Eve was quickly approaching. Fast forward today, January 16th, and I have still yet to hear back from this office about her referral. I talked to wellstar, Atlanta allergy and asthma and shared my difficulties. I was able to get my daughter in to CHOA. They have already done two of her 4 surgeries and are much more organized and they scheduled her appointment immediately without all the grief. I highly recommend you research other options if you have time. The doctors could be great, but you will never get in to find out, and there is no communication from the staff. Need more training on how to schedule appointments and work with families in the front.

Worst place to take your kids. The Dr we saw yesterday he berated me as a mom, overstepped his ground, made things up, and was a 100% jerk. I called my pediatrician before I left the parking lot and she's calling the head of this GIs office on Monday even she was disappointed and upset at them. I never in my life have ever had a doctor tell me " your not a good parent" like who do you think you are? This was for a consultation for my son. now we are currently at the pediatrician office and she's ordering labs because he acted a fool yesterday and mom shamed me instead of being professional and actually listening.

Dr. Mehta is absolutely amazing. We had a concern that CHOA would not look into as it's normally an adult onset issue. Brought my concerns to Dr. Mehta and he not only listened, but agreed for piece of mind for us parents to look into it more. So thankful he did as sure enough our child has to be monitored every six months. Very welcoming and friendly staff.
