Dr. Byron Vaughn

Dr. Vaughn is the most wonderful GI physician I can imagine. He makes me feel seen as a whole person, not just as a person with IBD to treat. He asks about more than just my illness. The whole care team (nurses, PAs, pharmacists) are amazing too. I highly highly recommend. So grateful for the care they provide.

Son needed to change from his pediatric gastroenterologist, and was recommended to Dr. Vaughn several years ago. He's intelligent and knows his stuff... we've been dealing with IBD for over ten years, Dr. Vaughn is a good doctor for our family.

This doctor is the most arrogant/rude GI Doctor I have ever encountered. Bedside manner is awful. Stay away, especially if you’re female. His GI nurse is just as unpleasant. Stay Away 😳

I was assigned to Dr. Vaughn by the University when my doctor left for another clinic. I had no choice in the matter. I can't recommend Dr. Vaughn because he has no concern for the health of his patients, Dr. Vaughn is only concerned about his research. Dr. Vaughn cannot run a telehealth call if his life depends on it. I had four calls with Dr. Vaughn and each time his excuse was " I can see you in the waiting room, but I cannot admit you into the conversation." His nurse practitioner can run a telehealth call, so it's not the technology, it's just the operator. Dr. Vaugh repeatedly told me I had to go off the medication that has worked for me over the past eight years. I repeatedly said no because the medication has been working and I have tried newer medications that have not worked. Dr. Vaughn said we could try a reduce dosage and I mistakenly believed Dr. Vaughn. I asked what would happen if I flared and Dr. Vaughn said we would go back up on my current medication. Guess what, I flared and there was no concern from Dr. Vaughn. I lost 15lbs. before he ordered any tests and didn't communicate any next steps until I started seeing a new doctor. I requested notes and records from Dr. Vaughn for my new doctor. I was able to read the notes and there was no mention of our agreement to go back up on my current medication. Dr. Vaughn's notes mentioned his decision to take me off of my current medication and put me on something else and eventually onto an infusion which I NEVER agreed to. I was lied to by Dr. Vaughn. Dr. Vaughn is all about himself and he doesn't care about his patients. My life has been turned upside down because of Dr. Vaughn and now will take more time to straighten out. Based on my experience, Dr. Vaughn should have his medical license revoked. Stay away.
