Dr. Anna M. Gonzales, MD

I highly recommend Dr. Anna Gonzalez! I was really anxious about having a gastroenterology procedure done for the first time, but the whole team made me feel comfortable right away. Dr. Gonzalez is incredibly patient and answered every question I had. My nurse Carmen was super kind, and Stephanie, the anesthesiologist, was amazing too. The whole office is just very welcoming and professional. It felt more like being around supportive family than being at a clinic. Truly a great healthcare experience❣️

Arrogant, dismissive and low emotional intelligence. She struggles to process patient concerns and feedback. Issues regulating emotions and being empathetic. Hostile response to basic medical questions. I’ve been seeing Dr. Gonzalez for a year with the same issue without resolution. Today I asked the side effects of a medicine and her response was to dismiss my concern and to medically gaslight me saying “so you prefer to continue with [insert illness]” I then asked her to please not talk to me that way and that I had basic concerns to discuss. Her response was to escalate and tell me I should see a different Dr. if I don’t like her. I was shocked at her indifference and immature response. She was arrogant, bulldozed me, and was emotionless when I tried to express that I am just trying to ask questions and be comfortable that we are exploring all the potential causes of my illness that isn’t improving. This is why people don’t seek medical care and get diagnosed too late.

Dr. Gonzales is an excellent physician. I’ve had the last 3 colonoscopies from her, and it was well done. She is extremely professional and well organized. I couldn’t ask for a better doctor. Also Memorial Hermann was also fantastic, clean, and neat. The staff was helpful and friendly.

I miss Dr. Gonzalez! She was my MD in KY and I have nobody like her since! She listens to you! She’s definitely not a five star she is a 10 star MD

Dont bother to call if you have a Medicare Advantsge insurance plan. Ive called them twice (2 years apart) with 2 different advantage plans and was told both times they wont my insurance. They are listed as Memorial Hermann doctors. I have NOT had a problem with any other Memorial Hermann doctors taking my insurance. Looks like they are trying to have it both ways.

Update: I check this site periodically to make sure my review is still up. I can’t stress enough to make sure that you have a competent doctor when dealing with such life changing circumstances. I have been at MD Anderson and credit my Dr there for saving my life. It has been 4 years and I have gone through treatment: radiation, chemo, 2 surgeries and numerous CT scans and tests. What I remember most was Dr Gonzales’s lack of accountability. It takes years for a tumor to grow to the size I had. She did 2 colonoscopies prior to the one when she finally found cancer. Of course it was a size then that it almost blocked off my colon. I question if it was there and missed in 2014. I know it was there in 2019 and Dr Gonzales missed it. It had to have been. They don’t grow that big that quickly. Why would I put my personal business out for public display? Especially something SO personal? #1 Because it is important to get checked. And #2 If something doesn’t seem right get a second opinion. I can’t stress that enough. I wish that I had. This probably goes back to the original issues I was having in 2012. She acted like I was wasting her time. It turns out she was wasting my time and the consequences are what I have to live with. Original review from 12/09/2020 Dr. Anna Gonzales has been my Gastro Dr since 2012. I saw her for concerns about celiac disease after a family member was diagnosed positive. When I turned 50 in 2014, I saw her for my first colonoscopy. All clear. I saw her again in Spring of 2019 because I had blood in my stool. She did another colonoscopy and I was diagnosed with hemorrhoids. After many different treatments (creams, steroids, laser treatments) the bleeding persisted. August of 2020 she did another colonoscopy which showed a rectal mass. It have stage 3 colorectal cancer. I had radiation on the mass and am currently undergoing chemotherapy. Surgery will be in the future after treatment ends. I had 3 colonoscopies in 6 years and now have stage 3 cancer. How does that happen? I believe I was misdiagnosed in 2019 and treatment was delayed for a year and 4 months (which included the Covid shutdown) with unnecessary hemorrhoid treatments.

Yes....Dr.Gonzales can be direct when speaking to you,which I don't feel is a bad thing. She is an excellent Doctor. I recently had a colonoscopy, and both Dr.Gonzales and her staff were very kind and made me feel comfortable. I would definitely recommend her.
