Dr. Howard’s team consistently works efficiently from check in to check out. Dr. Howard is very thorough and never rushed through the appointment. A very professional and pleasant healthcare provider.

This is the first time I've ever written a Google review but needed to warn others-- I had an absolutely horrible experience with this doctor. Like others have said, she has a terrible bedside manner and was quick to prescribe medications/order a colonoscopy without obtaining a thorough medical history and background of my issues. The straw that broke the camels back was that she missed TWO of my scheduled telehealth appointments over the course of a week while I was dealing with an urgent medical problem and was not able to talk to me on the phone for even a few minutes to recommend solutions. Ironically, when you miss her call or don't respond immediately, she gets mad at you! Her care team is rude, incompetent, and unable to respond to simple medical questions that any nurse should be able to answer. Patients should NEVER feel this way with a doctor/care team. Anyone with GI issues also knows it is often uncomfortable and requires vulnerability to talk to someone about their issues-- if you're looking for a doctor who cares about you (or at least pretends to), I do not recommend Dr. Howard in the slightest.

Excellent doctor and wonderful staff. I've been a patient for over 20 years, and the doctor's expertise is boundless. She displays compassion, listens to her patients carefully, while providing good advice for your concerns and your overall health. When I need appointments scheduled, have questions about insurance and other procedures, the staff has been highly responsive. Thank you, Dr. Howard and the staff.

My experience with Dr Howard the last ten years has been exceptional during office visits and procedure wise. She is a busy doctor, but she listens! The staff is wonderful.

I was having one of the best days of my life when I left work to see her for a chronic GI issue I was experiencing. Unfortunately, the visit was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a doctor’s office. I found her to be impatient, rude, and lacking in bedside manner. I didn’t feel heard or that there was much interest in understanding what I had been experiencing before discussing next steps. A colonoscopy was suggested very quickly, which left me feeling like my concerns hadn’t been fully heard or addressed. She came highly recommended, and I was especially hopeful to have found a black GI specialist, so this experience was particularly disappointing. I can only speak to my personal experience, but based on my visit, I would recommend considering another provider. Capital Digestive Care has several other GI excellent specialists, so I would encourage patients to explore their options.. AVOID Dr. Howard at all costs!

I had two procedures with Dr. Howard. Both went very well. She is a skilled and caring physician. I no longer live in DC, but I’m considering driving five hours back to the city so I can have my third procedure with Dr. Howard and her team. She’s that good.

Dr. Howard may have a stellar professional bio but I would not recommend her to someone trying to resolve GI issues that affect their day-to-day quality of life. She is quick to recommend expensive diagnostic procedures but not in the least interested in hearing from the patient about symptoms, nor following up on said procedures. I waited over two weeks (with multiple calls to her office) to get a chance to speak with her after my upper endoscopy, without success. I quickly found a more sympathetic but equally qualified GI specialist.
