Children’s National Hospital Pediatric Gastroenterology

Dr Hayes & his staff here at the FXBG clinic were super nice, friendly, patient & kind to us today during an appointment for one of my kiddos. One of my sons has a fear of doctors offices, so he was upset & afraid. The staff.. from the front desk receptionist, the nurses & even Dr Hayes himself made this visit a breeze for us! Dr Hayes was recommended to me, & now I can see why! Definitely recommend to those who are looking for a good pediatric gastroenterologist!! I left the appointment feeling great & optimistic about our plan of care. Thank you guys so much!! :) From a very happy mama!

Dr. Hayes has been a God send for our family. My daughter has been a definitely a GI mystery since she was 1. A medical mystery in general. When we had a different GI doc at a different hospital tell us that he thought my daughter's not eating issues, vomiting, screaming in pain, was behavioral issues. We then were looking elsewhere. We knew her issues were not behavioral. We met with Dr. Hayes and he immediately went into finding what was going on. He was the first doctor to really listen to me and my 2 year old daughter at the time. We did her second endoscopy in a year. But what he found truly changed our lives. She has a rare genetic disorder called CSID or Sucraid Enzyme Deficiency, she can't process sucrose or sugar very well. She also has a mild lactase enzyme deficiency. Also with the other rare genetic disorder she has, we recieved all these answers within months of each other last year. Dr. Hayes is a huge answer to our prayers! He has also linked us up with Laura McWade who is amazing with nutritional support especially with kids that have feeding tubes. Having a child with special needs, answers doesn't fix everything but let me tell you it heals the heart. We were fighting with doctors and nutritionists and feeding therapists, my daughter doesn't fit into any normalized special needs box. So I for blamed, they weren't listening to us, so much trauma for us. I can't thank Dr. Hayes and his team enough!!! I know I ask a lot of questions, he is very gracious and understanding with me. He has been with us since I think Dec 2022. I know God sent us to Dr. Hayes, thank you.

Dr. Christopher Hayes is an excellent doctor. He is the only doctor that could figure out what my daughter's medical issue was. Great bed side manner. Daughter loved him and trusted him. Sad to hear he is no longer with the practice.

Dr. Hayes believed in me and my newborns issues when I was referred to him. He was relentless to determine what was going on with her stomach. He was attentive during each appointment, always responded quickly to messages via the portal or by phone. He never gave up, and now here we are 16 months later doing great. Not only is he personable but extremely knowledgeable with endless paths to take or cross off! If you need a pediatric GI, do NOT hesitate to see Dr. Hayes!

Dr Hayes is simply a blessing to his patients and their families. After working with multiple doctors, I can say he is the most caring, understanding, contemplative and intelligent pediatric gastroenterologist we’ve encountered. Four years ago, my upper-elementary child presented with gastrointestinal problems that doctors at other hospitals couldn’t properly diagnose. Dr Hayes took the time to fully understand our entire family’s history, consulted with doctors nationally and locally, and put our child on the road to wellness. We are incredibly grateful for him.

My daughter has had stomach issues since she was born. We have seen many physicians as well as had many tests run over the last 12 years with no answers! Dr. Hayes was recommended to us by our pediatrician and within one year he figured out what was wrong with my daughter!! He worked tirelessly after hours MANY times for us. We are so grateful for his continued efforts to get her better and the nutrition she needs. We highly recommend Dr. Hayes to any parent out there searching for answers to get their child thriving and well!! He is truly the best!!!
