Not considerate or lenient at all with working with families. The downtown Kansas City, MO location is much more dependable and reliable!

Beware of predatory billing practices. I was charged an exorbitant fee for one blood draw for my son with no details or explanation as to why the cost was so high. I called twice and left voicemails twice, simply to ask for someone to call me back and for an itemized bill so I could understand what was going on. Both times I was unable to reach anyone and neither of my calls were ever returned. It’s been weeks and still - radio silence. Additionally, the bill I received also promised a “discount” if I could pay in full right away. If I didn’t pay in full right away, the “discount” would “expire” and the cost would go up by hundreds of dollars. Bullshit. This system penalizes those who cannot afford to pay large sums all at once and rewards the wealthy for not asking questions and being naively complicit. Rushing people to pay so they can receive a “discount” before there is time to dispute or even understand the charge is not a discount. It’s bribery and coercion. This is an immoral, predatory way to bill patients for necessary medical care. I would have hoped that a hospital that specializes in the care of children and families would have a more ethical, transparent, and communicative billing system. Instead, CM seems like it’s just another corporate greed machine that bullies their patients into paying questionable bills and ignored requests for clarity.

I'm not sure what happened to this hospital as we have used this hospital for emergency care for my autistic daughter for her entire life of 10 years but after our experience monday August 10th with my daughter it has become painfully obvious this hospital has fallen severely far from the quality it once had in the past and I'm not sure if its a good idea any child seeks medical treatment here. The resident physician we dealt with had terrible communication to the point he didn't even mention they were doing a IV to draw blood when it was discussed several times they were going to discharge my daughter not to mention his complete lack of confidence in himself and his constant answers lf I need to consult my suoervising physician, the nurses than take blame for the resident physicians short comings of communication claiming they made the decision to put the IV in, the supervising physician coming in and immediately trying to justify the communication failures of her resident physician even becoming defensive toned instead of accepting the failures of her team which at this point is cause for concern with her leadership abilities to manage the ER she was responsible for little lone her inability to manage her current team. What gets worse is the problems don't just stop there, said physicians gave referrals for urology and nephrology for my daughter which took days to get through the answering services automated holding services just for urology to cancel the referral and nepheology answering service to tell me they were months and months out on appointments and said to leave a appointment for triage nurse and hung up. Since following up with our PCP they have decided both urology and nephrology follow ups are needed for my daughter even though this hospitals clinics canceled the referrals. Luckily we have a amazing primary care team we can fall back on because this hospital and staff act like they have no idea or confidence in what they need to do.
