It took nearly a dozen attempts to schedule my colonscopy procedure only to learn after doing the prep and arriving early for my 7:15 AM appointment, it had been canceled!!! The appointment had disappeared from myChart! I found a missed voice message telling me I needed to reschedule. A single missed phone call amongst all of my spam calls. No human interaction to notify me of this cancelation. It took an hour to learn that they could fit me into the schedule at 11 AM. After prepping me, there was no communication for more than 2 hours. I was finally wheeled in for my procedure at 12:45 PM. Thankfully, my colonoscopy was successful and I have a paper copy of my detailed report, but the surgeon's report has not been posted on myChart. No one enjoys prepping for a colonoscopy, but the added stress and frustration caused by poor communication has earned Baylor Gastroenterology a single star from this very disappointed patient.

I am extremely disappointed with the lack of urgency and continuity of care I’ve experienced here. I was originally referred to a provider, waited months to be seen, and after only two visits, she was no longer there. That alone disrupted my care. I was then assigned a new doctor who seems kind, but the issue is with the overall system and staff responsiveness. There is little to no urgency when it comes to patient care. I’m only finding out about necessary tests during follow-up visits instead of being informed ahead of time, which causes dangerous delays. In my situation, this is not just inconvenient—it could be life-threatening. For example, I was told I needed a sleep study, but the earliest appointment offered was November. I had to contact my insurance company myself to find other in-network providers, which should have been handled by the office. Communication has been frustrating, with constant back-and-forth through the patient portal and no real resolution. On top of that, my personal information has been updated multiple times without my authorization. When I requested to file a formal complaint, my concerns were ignored. Overall, I feel unheard, unsupported, and very disappointed. No patient should feel like they have to fight this hard just to receive timely and appropriate care.

the doctors here are great, but if you need a timely response about literally anything, you will not find that here. whenever i need to get in touch with my provider or his clinical team, i have to leave multiple voicemails, send multiple messages in the patient portal, and even then, my best bet is still trying to get someone on the phone and hoping they actually follow up with a call back. it seems this office's preference is to schedule you for an appointment even if your question can be answered in 2 minutes on the patient portal. which is frustrating because it's unnecessary, time-consuming, and costly. again, the providers themselves are terrific—skilled, insightful—if you are willing to lower your expectations around administrative management here, it's worth the quality of care.

it’s so utterly frustrating to deal with this department. i’m extremely disappointed in their service as a business but also with my care from the medical staff.

you can't make an appointment or talk to anyone without being on hold for 20 minutes, then have to leave your name and phone number. They won't call you back for a few days. Then they want you to give out sensitive information when they call back and you don't know who they are and can't independently verify who they are. You CANNOT call the publicly available number and get a hold of anyone. Baylor says they can't talk to you unless you give them sensitive information but you have no way to contact them without having to leave a message. NOBODY EVER ANSWERS THE PHONE. EVER. This is a huge cybersecurity risk where they can contact you directly and ask you for sensitive information because of "HIPAA Laws" but you are unable to call them back on an independently verifiable number. This nonsense has to change.

Dr.Tara Keihanian has been great.

The wait times to respond to test results are too long and unacceptable. Doctors and staff are nice and of course great at what they do but the wait times facing patients on the matter of their potential cancer are out of control.

Been a patient for Dr. Bernica going on almost two years now. So glad I switched to her before completing the tests Dr. Argwal wanted me to do, his bedside manners were horrible. I had to schedule a colonoscopy/endoscopy and it was with Dr. Bernica. Before I even had the proceedure done I canceled the tests and made an appointment with her so she could get to know me before knowing the insides of me. She is absolutely fantastic and goes out of her way to make sure everything is okay. I have severe Gastroparesis and she has does everything possible to make it at ease during the rough patches of my GP journey. This past May I had a horrible flare up and went to see her in the Sugarland location because I needed her to see me for decisions. The following day, I was in the hospital and she go her clinical notes and colleagues I was getting the treatment needed. For those of you who are saying they won't call you back or your messages are being ignored, maybe it's just your personality that you don't know what the words wait mean. Give the doctors grace as so many of the GI Specialists have secondary locations the they are at as well. You also have to remember they do Hospital rounds for a week out of the month and that they too have families.
