Top notch experience on each and every level both doctor and staff. Particularly impressed by the depth of explanation Dr Hernandez provided. His scientific curiosity is greatly appreciated.

- GastroHealth could improve on having smaller wait times and adherence to appointments (waited 40 mins). - Doctor should review full chart before coming in to talk. He was not aware I was on antibiotics which was really important and pertinent for a lab I have coming up. He was also not aware that I'd tested negative for H. Pylori which is major for a gastro appointment. - Overall, I left more confused than when I came in, riddled with questions, no leads on what I might have and feeling extremely dismissed. I waited over a month for this appointment and have been looking for answers for over a year and Dr.Hernandez suggested it might be food intolerance and when I challenged that he asked ME, the patient, what else it could be in a condescending tone. I left crying with zero hope of finding out what a have, a list of labs with different dates on them and no explanation, a check up for a whole month from now, and no idea what the doctor might think I have. I think he might have thought he was being encouraging and doing a comprehensive check which is why I'm not leaving 1 star and giving him the benefit of the doubt. But it was an extremely disappointing, unprepared consult.

I went to Dr. Hernandez for a reoccurring/persistent h. pylori infection, that I have had for four years. Between my GP, the nurse practitioners, and my prior GI doctor, I have been prescribed every antibiotic, and combination therapy, haphazardly at best. Talking all that antibiotic so often has had a very negative impact on my health. I came prepared with my records and drove the 45 minutes out to the Doral, FIU office. The office was packed with suffering patients. It was so full, there wasn’t a seat, and when I did get a seat I kept getting up to offer my seat to others. I waited for almost two hours. The staff seemed stressed and I immediately regretted picking this doctor. When I was called back by the tech I realized they had none of my information and hadn’t done anything to prepare for the appointment. They didn’t even have my most recent medical records and I wasn’t even sent a questionnaire. So there in the office, I emailed my last labs to the tech who took my blood pressure, which was elevated because of how stressful this whole process was. When I was finally able to see Dr. Hernandez, he apologized for the long wait, which I appreciated. But he rushed the visit so quickly that I found myself scrambling get any information across to him as he shuffled me out the door. I was still trying to ask important questions like what should my husband and I do, because he keeps getting infected too, and our inability to even kiss now for so long has had a negative impact on our lives. He just said, yes you can transfer it by kissing and then it was over. I wasn’t given any paperwork or a follow up. I went to the front desk where I had to wait in line again just to ask if they needed anything else and they said no. It wasn’t until late the next day that Dr. Hernandez’s assistant Marylyn called me (Friday at 3:27 pm). I must keep my mobile off at work so I called her back as soon as I could leave at 4:13 pm. The call went to their call service, who said the office was still open so just to keep calling, which I did at 4:15 pm, 4:39 pm, and 4:40 pm when I was told they had left for the day. The weekend passed and I called back today, Monday at 1:25 pm, was put on hold then disconnected. I called back and got a young man who I explained that I was trying to reach Marylyn and I had just called and was disconnected. He didn’t offer a professional apology, so I said, I know it wasn’t your fault but it’s the office. He said, “No problem,” but it was a problem. He proceeded to tell me they are sending me for all these tests, that I will have to find places to get them done and I have good insurance so it might not be that bad. I told him I wanted to move forward with the treatment the doctor offered (tetracycline) at the appointment and he said there was no way for him to communicate with the doctor. Literally none, even though he works with him. I pressed and finally he said he’d pass a note to the nurse practitioner who may or may not ever respond. Basically the only way for me to get any treatment, even though the labs they already have are within the past month, is do more labs and schedule a follow up. After I asked him to please ask the nurse to get back to me today, he literally ended the conversation with “Good Luck.” I’m sorry but that’s ridiculous. Come to this doctor with a digestive issue, leave without any treatment and high blood pressure too. No thanks. I’ll find another doctor.
